I am researching possible solutions for my daughter(age21). Would accupunture help the resorption of bone fragements left in her quadracep muscle following a femoral fracture in June 09 (skiing). You can still feel the bone fragements in the muscle and the surgeon said he would have to surgically remove them if they don't get resorbed by March 2010. Any advise would be terrific.

Thanks
Paella

Sorry to hear of this accident.
Unless these bone fragments are causing excessive local cellular soft tissue distress, I'm not sure why the surgeon insists on this date in particular, but I'm sure they have some reasons.
From a Western bio perspective, bone fragments will remain where they are dependant on the osteoclast/osteoblast balance. This depends on the bodies ability to recognise that these fragments are not supposed to be there and adjust accordingly.
Acupuncture can usually provide localised pain relief and increase the local micro circulation. As long as the body is able to naturally fix itself over time, acupuncture will reduce this healing time.
Soft tissue injuries are very quick to respond but bone takes some time. Treatment suitability would depend on the level of micro trauma involved.
Acupuncture is worth a try as there is no side effects that I know of. Look for an acupuncturist who specialises in injury rehab in your area.

Think of the bright side, at the end of the day at least she did it in style skiing... Not snowboarding.
