Hi everybody,
I have a problem with dry eyes. I am looking for a solution to this problem. Is there an acupuncture treatment that can make my body produce more tears? Any help/information would be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards,

From a TCM treatment perspective this is probably heat in the liver. This usually responds well to acupuncture treatment but can take a few treaments to get results. Acupuncture can be quite effective for selective eye conditions, and can often clear up co conditions such as migraine at the same time!
With dry eyes there are always so many factors, ranging from air conditioning to blocked or non functioning tear ducts to allergy
Combined with treatment it is also probably worth your time to see an eye specialist.
There are some excellent dry eye drops out there too, however I presume you don't like using eye drops in general. |

Hi Deels,
Sorry to hear about the dry eyes. In Chinese Medicine, there are many recognized causes for dry eyes, one of which is heat in the liver which was mentioned. However, it is very un-TCM to just assume that.
The reason why Chinese medicine works so well is because we ask you questions, feel your pulse, look at your tongue, and even feel your abdomen to find why YOU have dry eyes.
What gender are you and how old? How long have you had the problem? Do you also have red eyes? Are they itchy also? Is it worse at any particular time of day? Do you also have bad back? How about headaches? These are some of the questions that would be crucial to know the answers to.
I have treated dry eyes. The most common reason in people over the age of 50 is declining energy of the LV/KD complex. My home-remedy solution for you without knowing a thing about you is:
Make a tea primarily from goji berries and chrysanthimum. You can add peppermint, ginger, etc... to taste. This supplements the yin of the LV and helps clear heat from the eyes. |

the eye is connected to various organs of the body and acupuncture treatment is directly connected to cure pin point the area of the body to cure... So, there is every chance to cure dry eyes acupuncture.

Good call on the YIN of the Liver. If the liver does not have enough YIN it can not hold the blood sufficiently. In TCM this is known as deficient liver yin with stagnant liver qi (remember the qi moves the blood) causing the heat in the liver blood to rise, or ascend to the eyes (being the liver outlet of the body). Heat drys the fluids of the eye, causing dry eyes.
Good call on the simple formulation.. builds the liver yin and cools the blood, while building kidney yang to cool the fire... Simple and effective over a long period.. nice call.. TCM rules..
SPEAK OUT AGAINST REGULATION.. before it is too late...
TCM.. or do we get to call it "stick em with the 'pins' Aussie style"
