UB62 (Urinary Bladder 62) - Acupuncture Point Information

Chinese Name: Shenmai
English Name: Extending Vessel

Location: In the depression at the inferior margin of the lateral malleolus.


Confluent point of Yangqiaomai, 5th of the 13 Ghost points.


Calms the shen, relaxes the muscle channels, dispels wind, clears the exterior (of external Xie Qi)

Primary Indications:

Headache, dizziness/vertigo, pain in low back and legs.

Secondary Indications:


Tertiary Indications:

Psychosis, tinnitus, wind-stroke and sequelae, insomnia, dysmenorrhea, foot swelling, Bi syndrome of lower limbs, palpitations, fever and chills.

Other Indications:

Meningitis, hypertension, meniere's syndrome, eye pain due to attack of Yangqiaomai, nosebleed, swelling of the neck and armpit, rehumatism in the Kidneys, tibial paralysis, quadraplegia, pain control, dermatosis, tuberculosis, sensation of Qi rising, general fatigue.
