UB21 (Urinary Bladder 21) - Acupuncture Point Information

Chinese Name: Weishu
English Name: Stomach Shu

Location: 1.5 cun lateral to the lower border of the spinous process of the twelth thoracic vertebra.


Back-Shu point for the Stomach.


Regulates the Middle Jiao and harmonizes the Stomach, reinforces Central Qi, transforms Dampness, eliminates stagnation.

Primary Indications:

Epigastric pain, borborygmus, vomiting.

Secondary Indications:

Stomach and Spleen Xu/poor digestion/Poor appetite.

Tertiary Indications:

abdominal distension, pain in chest and sides, nausea/regurgitation, gastritis, gastric spasms, gastric ulcer, emaciation, back pain, diarrhea/cholera, enlargement of liver, difficulty in swallowing, cold stomach, intestinal parasitosis, night blindness, jaundice, muscular contractures.

Other Indications:

Insomnia, prolapsed stomach, gastrointestinal disorders, prolapse of the rectum, accumulation lumps persisting for many years, all disorders due to perverse energy of dampness.
