UB17 (Urinary Bladder 17) - Acupuncture Point Information
Chinese Name: Geshu
English Name: Diaphragm
Location: 1.5 cun lateral to the lower border of the spinous process of the seventh thoracic vertebra.
Nature:
One of the Eight Meeting Points: for blood
Functions:
Clears heat from the blood, transforms blood stasis, regulates the blood, expands the chest and diaphgram, reinforces xu conditions, harmonizes Stomach Qi.
Primary Indications:
Cough, hemoptysis/spitting blood, vomiting/belching.
Tertiary Indications:
Difficulty in swallowing, bone steaming fever, asthma, night sweats, hiccoughs, all TCM blood disorders (hemorrhage, anemia, urticaria), cardiac inflammation, stomach cancer, enteritis, abdominal distension/pain, back pain and stiffness, bi syndrome, lassitude, hypersomnia.
Other Indications:
Mania and withdrawal, pleurisy, inflammation of chest, cardiac pain, gastric hyperacidity, anorexia, even if temperature is normal the patient cannot eat; if he eats it causes cardiac pain, evacuation difficulty, nephritis, tuberculosis of the lymph glands, cold abscess, spasms, swelling, dilation and atony, abundant sweating even in cold weather.
