ST6 (Stomach 6) - Acupuncture Point Information

Chinese Name: Jiache
English Name: Jaw Vehicle

Location: One finger-breadth anterior and superior to the angle of the mandible at the prominence of the masseter muscle when teeth are clenched.

Nature: 7th of the 13 Ghost points.

Functions:

Dispels Wind and opens the channels (for facial paralysis, benefits the teeth and jaws, clears Heat from Yangmind channels (on the face).

Primary Indications:

Facial paralysis (deviation of mouth), swelling of cheeks/mumps, toothache, trismus.

Tertiary Indications:

Neck pain/stiffness/spasm, loss of voice, trigeminal neuralgia.

Other Indications:

Hemiplegia or total paralysis, dribbling, temperomandibular arthritis, aversion to wind and cold.
