ST39 (Stomach 39) - Acupuncture Point Information

Chinese Name: Xiajuxu
English Name: Lower Void

Location: 3 cun below Shangjuxu (ST37) and 9 cun below Dubi (ST35), about one finger-breadth from the anterior crest of the tibia.


Lower He-Sea point for the Small Intestine.


Clears Damp-Heat (from the intestines).

Primary Indications:

Lower abdominal pain, Wei and Bi syndromes of lower limbs.

Secondary Indications:

Mastitis/breast abcess.

Tertiary Indications:

Diarrhea/dysentry, pain in back and testicles, foot swelling.

Other Indications:

Dry lips, dribbling, sore throat, mania and withdrawal, Stomach Heat, hepatitis, complexion has lost its brightness, absence of sweating, all the body hairs dried out, "Small Intestine lacks energy".
