SJ17 (Sanjiao 17) - Acupuncture Point Information

Chinese Name: Yifeng
English Name: Wind Screen

Location: Posterior to the earlobe, in the depression between the mastoid process and the mandible.

Functions:

Benefits the hearing and vision, soothes the ear (Deqi must go into the ear), disperses Wind and clears the channels, major point to expel External Wind, the main point for facial paralysis.

Primary Indications:

Tinnitus, deafness, facial paralysis, swelling of the cheeks.

Tertiary Indications:

Trismus/lockjaw, mutism, scrofula, toothache.

Other Indications:

Sore eyes, blurred vision, membrane over the eye, convulsions (generally with headache and an arched and rigid back), paralysis of the extremities, neuralgia of shoulder and scapula, temperomandibular arthritis, ptosis of lower jaw, frequent yawning in infants.
