REN8 (Conception Vessel 8) - Acupuncture Point Information

Chinese Name: Shenque (also known as Qizhong - Middle of Navel)
English Name: Spirit Palace (ie: Navel)

Precautions: Contraindicated to needle: moxibustion on salt is commonly used.

Location: In the centre of the umbilicus

Functions:

Warms and stabilizes the Yang (major point for Yang collapse to restore Yang), strengthens the transporting function of the Spleen and Stomach.

Primary Indications:

Borborygmus, abdominal pain, incessant diarrhoea, dysentry.

Secondary Indications:

Flaccid wind-stroke.

Tertiary Indications:

Oedema with abdominal distension, rectal prolapse, loss of consciousness.

Other Indications:

Dyspepsia, intestinal tuberculosis, neuraesthenia, emptiness of energy, icy limbs, all acute gynacological disorders, Yin in the abdomen and in the five Zang, the patient hears water flowing in intestines, chronic lesions of the intestines, convulsions, epilepsy with opisthotonos.
