LU11 (Lung 11) - Acupuncture Point Information

Chinese Name: Shao Shang
English Name: Lesser Merchant

Location: On the radial side of the thumb, about 0.1 cun posterior to the corner of the nail.

Nature:

Jing-Well point of the Lung channel, 2nd of the 13 Ghost points.

Functions:

Cools the Lungs, eliminates Wind-Heat, creates sweating in heat disorders, powerful effects in lowering fever, benefits the pharynx, special point for the throat, revives from fainting, in treating mental illness or epistaxis, apply moxibustion with 3-5 small moxa cones.

Primary Indications:

Cough.

Secondary Indications:

Sore throat, syncope.

Tertiary Indications:

Epistaxis, fever, psychosis, spasms/pain in fingers, throat bi, mumps, asthma.

Other Indications:

Common cold, pneumonia, infantile indigestion, enteritis, infantile epilepsy, lips always dry, fullness below the heart with abundant swelling, abdominal distension, bleeding from the mouth, swelling of the chin with trismus, frequent hiccough, tinnitus due to emptiness of ancestral Qi.
