DU26 (Governing Vessel 26) - Acupuncture Point Information

Chinese Name: Renzhong
English Name: Philtrum (Also known as Shuigou - "Water channel", also known as Guigoing - "Ghost Palace").

Location: Variously located as 1/3 distance from border of upper lip to nose (in nasal philtrum), as 1/2 way up the philtrum, or slightly above the midpoint of the philtrum.


1st of the 13 Ghost points.


Clears the senses and cools Heat, promotes resuscitation, calms the Shen, benefits the lumbar spine, eliminates internal Wind.

Primary Indications:

Facial paralysis, facial swelling.

Secondary Indications:

Psychosis, epilepsy, loss of consciousness, infantile convulsions, stiffness and pain of lower back.

Tertiary Indications:

Trismus, diabetic thirst, jaundice, oedema, bad breath.

Other Indications:

Torpor due to fright, hysteria, aphasia, patient believes himself to be hit by blows from ghosts, plague, motion sickness, nose diseases, lip tremor, twisting pain in the vicinity of the heart and abdomen.
