DU1 (Governing Vessel 1) - Acupuncture Point Information

Chinese Name: Changqiang
English Name: Long Strength; Grow Strong

Location: Midway between the tip of the coccyx and the anus.


Luo-Connecting point of Dumai.


Opens the Renmai and Dumai, regulates the intestines.

Primary Indications:

Haemafaecia, haemorrhoids, pain in the thoracolumbar back.

Tertiary Indications:

Diarrhoea, rectal prolapse, constipation, dysuria, retraction of testicles, impotence, spermatorrhoea, psychosis, epilepsy, infantile convulsions.

Other Indications:

Eczema of scrotum, inducing labour, enteritis, vomiting and diarrhoea in cholera, feng (Wind) in Large Intestine, heavy head, vomiting blood, subsidence of anterior fontanelle, children who squint or are afraid.
