CO18 (Colon 18) - Acupuncture Point Information
Chinese Name: Neck-Futu
English Name: Hyoid Border; Support the Prominence.
Location: On the lateral side of the neck, level with the hyoid bone, between the sternal and clavicular head of m. sternocleidomastoideus.
Nature:
One of the five "Window of the Sky" points listed in Ling Shu Ch21: For loss of voice.
Primary Indications:
Sudden loss of voice, sore throat.
Tertiary Indications:
Cough, asthma, scrofula, goitre, difficulty in swallowing.
Other Indications:
Excessive mucus, anaesthesia for thyroid operations, sounds in the throat "like a duck", throat makes a gurgling sound "like a cockcrow".
